2011 Mandarin Season has some to a close, but we will keep you informed of the happenings at Ann's Orchard. Please visit back often and stay up to date of when this next season will open, and make sure you place your order for 2012 Mandarins.
Located in the lower foothills of the Sierra Mountains Ann’s Orchard is about 40 miles east of Sacramento between the old mining town of Auburn and the farming town of Lincoln. It is here on an old stagecoach road that we moved to in 1977 to do as other families before us. That is watch our kids grow up among the wild animals and open spaces of nature. And as others before us we began with Old McDonald’s farm, raising just about every farm animal known to North America. Soon that turned into a herd of cattle. But being farmers by nature we also quickly started planting just about everything and anything we could find space for. Then in 1993 we planted our first Owari Satsuma mandarin trees and the real Ann’s Orchard was born. In 2003 we made it an organic farm by becoming certified organic. As of September 2010 we will withdraw from the certification program. Reason: not at all cost effective.
These mandarin trees consistently produce a high quality fruit year after year. Over those years we have established regular customers who buy from us at local farmers markets, on the farm and by internet. Our sincere interest in providing only top quality fruit with top quality service has put us on a first name basis with many of our customers; even to the extent we receive Xmas cards.
Ann's Orchard 2010 Satsuma Mandarins are grown in the cool Sierra Foothills, know for the warm days and cool nights, making our Placer County grown mandarins very sweet, easy to peel and a healthy habit.
