Organic satsuma mandarins grown in a unique micro-climate of Placer County, CA.

Mandarin Scones



1 ¾ c. flour

¾ c. finely chopped dried apricots

¼ c. granulated sugar

1 tablsp. Grated mandarin peel

1 ½ teasp. Baking powder

½ teasp. Baking soda

½ teasp. Salt

¼ c. butter

¼ c. sour cream

1 big egg slightly beaten

3 tablsp. Mandarin juice

1 teasp. Almond extract




½ c. powdered sugar

1 teasp butter, softened

1/8teasp almond extract

2-3 teasps milk


Heat oven to 375. Combine all the dry stuff (except powdered sugar) in a large bowl. Cut in ¼ cup bold butter until mixtureresembles coarse crumbs.


Combine sour cream, egg, juice and 1 t easp. Almond extract in a small bowl.  Stir into flour mixture just until moistened. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 5-8 times.


Pat dough into a 7 inch circle on a greased baking sheet. Score into 6 wedges, but do not separate.


Bake for 18 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool ten minutes


Meanwhile combine powdered sugar, 1 teasp softened butter, 1/8 tasp almond extract and enough milk for desired glaze consistency. Drizzle over the warm goodies
